I just got word that one of CityBeat‘s deliverymen was shot and killed in Tijuana this week. According to friends and family, Jesus “Joaquin” Isordia, 24, was outside his apartment Monday, Dec. 29, washing his truck when a car drove by and opened fire. Isordia was hit several times and died on the scene in front of his home.
Friends say Isordia lived next to known drug dealers and they suspect rival dealers are responsible for the shooting, although I can’t find any reports to substantiate this just yet (apparently, his death isn’t dramatic enough for the daily papers to cover).
It’s a sad, sad state of affairs in the city at this point. According to friends and family, Isordia was a guitarist in Tijuana metal bands including Nuestra Sangre and The Sacrifice Theory, not a drug dealer. They say he shouldn’t be among the city’s dead.
Beau’s Distribution, Isordia’s employer, will be holding a benefit show to raise funds for Isordia’s family. Check back for details.
